There was positive reception to the idea of this. I like the idea of this, but under the right set of rules.
The initial idea is to have guys that make it to $3 in RFA start accumulating pick compensation. Obviously at $3 a player would only hit a 3rd round comp, but if a player then makes it to say $6 it would bump to a 2nd round comp. I hesitate to make any $ amount equivalent to a 1st round comp because I don't want to take away from that highest round and start of the 2nd round, but I am not completely opposed to it if the league thinks it is fair and the right decision.
Along with the comp picks, we would likely do a running tally of things because if we just awarded teams for players lost there would be a lot of comp picks and we would end up with another round of picks. Just based on last season alone there were 48 players signed to new teams and if every team got a comp pick for those signings we would have 5 rounds of rookie picks. That would be 120 rookies drafted.

I feel like 48 RFAs is a lot but maybe that's just me. I like the new rule either way.

I think If you sign a player in rfa it should count against you in the comp pick formula. For instance if you lose a player who signs at the $6 level and sign one at that level as well you shouldn't receive a comp pick or say you lose a player at the $6 level but sign one at the $3 level you only get the later comp pick ext.

Sorry but no compensation of any kind would be my vote. three rounds of rookie draft is enough Probably 4 rounds would be the maximum. But figuring out comp picks into one round Nope. Leave as is

So I think with how close we are to the rookie draft and getting the off-season going in full force we are going to table this discussion for the year and have it be the first thing we talk about next off-season. I just felt this rule change needed more input before we put something to vote.

SIGNED RFA: Aaron Rodgers (NYJ-QB) $3/1y NE down 1 3rd. SF up 1 3rd Tremaine Edmunds (BUF-LB) $7/3y NE down 1 2nd. SEA up 1 2nd Fred Warner (SF-LB) $8/3y TEN down 1 2nd. SF up 1 2nd Lavonte David (TB-LB) $4/3y DAL down 1 3rd. WAS up 1 3rd Jack Gibbons (TEN-LB) $4/3y NE down 1 3rd. TEN up 1 3rd Jahlani Tavai (NE-LB) $3/2y AZ down 1 3rd. BAL up 1 3rd Aaron Jones (MIN-RB) $3/3y LAR down 1 3rd. NO Up 1 3rd Divine Deablo (LV-DB) $3/3y GB down 1 3rd. ATL up 1 3rd Kyle Dugger (NE-DB) $4/3y LAC down 1 3rd. JAX up 1 3rd Amani Hooker (TEN-DB) $3/2y ARI down 1 3rd. IND up 1 3rd DeAndre Hopkins (ARI-WR) $4/3y MIN down 1 3rd. NO up 1 3rd Justin Madubuike (BAL-DL) $3/2y ARI down 1 3rd. LAR up 1 3rd Younghoe Koo (ATL-K) $3/3y NYG down 1 3rd. NO up 1 3rd
So based on this previous season comp picks for next year would have been: SF receives a 2nd and 3rd SEA receives a 2nd WAS receives a 3rd TEN receives a 3rd BAL receives a 3rd NO receives 3 3rds ATL receives a 3rd JAX receives a 3rd IND receives a 3rd
A total of 12 picks added to the draft and only 2 of those being at the end of the 2nd changing the overall order of the draft. Tie breakers for those picks would need to be discussed but I wanted to put this board out there so people could see what it would look like for next off-season so we had it to refer back to for that discussion
