Peyton Manning Division Preview:
All 3 of LA, IND, and DEN seem like they are capable of fighting for the division. For now Garrett looks to have his Chargers roster set up the best to win the division and fight for the first LHL title this season. Make sure you vote for who you think the favorite is! Also let me know what you think!
Denver Broncos (Noah):
Looking into Denver as a competitor this season the team does have some eye catching names that can definitely lend themselves into helping a team possibly win the first ever LHL title! Diving into the roster more in depth, the QB spot is locked down for the foreseeable future, and can contend for the #1 spot at the position. The QB being spoken of here is Kyler Murray, with a loaded Cardinals offense he will have ample supply to get points for Denver this year. The RB room, while led by Leonard Fournette, who admittedly comes into 2020 with questions surrounding him, has other questions to be answered behind him. Marlon Mack, Frank Gore, and Gus Edwards are all in search of touches as things stand currently as they are all buried on their depth charts behind other guys, but can all find a big uptick in work if things break their way which will be needed for Noah, to make the RB room more threatening. The WR unit definitely offers up some nice options, both with vets and youngsters. Leading the group currently is Julian Edelman, but should be surpassed this season by both Gallup and Jeudy. Gallup will rely on how high powered the Dallas offense is as Dak has alot of guys to get the ball to. Behind those 3 D-Jax, Seth Roberts, and the rookie Tyler Johnson should be solid depth at the position for Noah. For the offense, the TE options are definitely the weak link of the bunch, with an aging Greg Olsen, who has 2 other very solid TEs to compete with in Seattle, and Jordan Akins who is behind Darren Fells, so the waters are very murky at the position. Switching to the defensive side of the ball, Noah went for stars on the D-Line with the group being led by Aaron Donald and Cam Jordan, the backups should be solid options on the top 2’s bye weeks, with Mario Addison and Ryan Kerrigen, so the unit could be one of the top ones by the end of the season. The LB core is led by Eric Kendricks, but after him the options have some definite question marks. Mack Wilson and Drue Tranquill could be solid players, but it appears they are both still fighting for a starting spot, then there are the rookies in K’lavon Chaisson and Isaiah Simmons, both are listed at LB, but not sure they play the snaps at the position it requires to rack up good LB point totals, but both should contribute some in their rookie seasons. As far as DBs go, that unit looks solid with all 4 guys on the roster projecting to score 100+ points, Awuzie, McCourty, Hughes, and Williams might be in contention to give Denver one of the top DB units in the league.
Projected Division Finish: 3rd
Indianapolis Colts (Tanner):
Tanner has set his Colts team up to be a definite contender to win the division this year, the offense has a few studs and the defense has a plethora of options with some top options in there. The biggest thing we will get to is depth on offense and some guys on defense who have injury history and questions on their situations. We will start at RB for the Colts because when you team is led by CMC, that is just where you start the conversation period. The clear #1 player in fantasy will cover a lot of issues for a team, only having Ito Smith to back him up at the position is a little worrisome, but for the weeks CMC plays it won’t matter. Leading the team at QB is Matty Ice, who is always a solid fantasy QB especially in the Falcons offense with many options. Despite that, this division is loaded with QB talent so Ryan could still end up being the 4th best QB in the division, but he will not likely cost Tanner any weeks with down performances. The WR group on this team is led by Scary Terry (a personal favorite of mine), Golden Tate, and rookie Laviska Shenault, which creates a very solid trio at the top. Behind them Amendola and Chris Conley are definitely options, but not likely to threaten for a starting spot week to week. Currently Hunter Henry is the only TE on the roster, so if Henry misses any time like he has the last 2 years, it could make things difficult for Tanner. Switching to the defense, the Colts are not pressed for options on that side of the ball. At DL, John Simon will lead the way, then it will be between Wormley and Justin Houston to lock down the other starting spot, while Tanner waits for Terrell Lewis to carve a role out in the Rams defense. The LB core will look no further than possible #1 scorer Bobby Wagner to get points. Behind him the duo of Collins and Bostic will be contributors, but to what extent? With JPP being more of an edge rusher he likely won’t produce enough to be a viable LB option for the team, and Burgess will rely on who gets snaps for the Jets at LB as he currently is not a starter. With 7 DBs on the roster, I think Tanner has the most rostered at that position, the group is led by Randall and Bradberry who should top the 100 point mark, with guys like Murphy, Peters, and the rookie Okudah have a good shot at the mark as well. The Bengal duo of Vonn Bell and Trae Waynes will be good depth pieces, but with the other options, might not see much of the starting lineup.
Predicted Division Finish: 2nd
Las Vegas Raiders (Jacob):
Jacob appears to be swinging for the fences right away with his Las Vegas Raider team going for mostly well established vets. In doing so it would appear the Raiders are the oldest team on average in the league for this first season, that being said he does have a few young guys that will likely be the building blocks of this team. The biggest star on the team is clearly his QB, as he has Russell Wilson leading the team. On the complete opposite end of that are his RBs who are all buried on their depth charts and in possible situations where they don’t even make their NFL rosters. Samuels, Malcolm Brown, and Scarbrough do not inspire fear into anyone at the position. So the pretty loaded WR unit will have to work double overtime to score the points to help Russ make this offense even middle of the pack. Keenan Allen and Robert Woods will put in their work well enough, so it will rely on Anthony Miller, Steven Sims, and Bradon Aiyuk to all produce higher than they are expected to partially cover the hole at RB. Behind them depth pieces of Jakeem Grant, Zac Pascal, Kenny Stills, and Peoples-Jones gives the team a long list of WRs. Tyler Higbee could be a potential top 10 TE on the season, so that spot is fairly settled for his offense, but with Hollister behind him, Higbee will need to play every week and play well. The Raiders actually have a loaded defense that could help them be a threat in the division and conference. With high scoring guys on the D-Line in Buckner and Jarren Reed, that duo will be one of the highest scoring duos in the league. His 4 LBs that will play most weeks in the form of Jordan Hicks, Matt Milano, KJ Wright, and Tahir Whitehead will help this defense be one of the top units in the league, the bench LBs of Josh Bynes and rookie Jordyn Brooks will be nice fillers for the top 4’s bye weeks. Karl Joseph, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Jimmie Ward make a very solid trio at the DB position for Jacob. All in all the defense will have to live up to their potential to help the offensive unit outside of RB cover up the hole that is the RB position for this team to have a shot at the playoffs in year 1.
Predicted Division Finish: 4th
Los Angeles Chargers (Garrett):
Looking at this division, Garrett lines up to be my favorite right now to win the division, the starters across the board seem to be setting him up to have a very successful year. How far this team goes likely relies on his QB, who is Carson Wentz, if Wentz is healthy and plays all year, he will be a top QB and will contribute heavily to Garrett making the playoffs and making a run. The RB room definitely has its merits, but also could fall apart quickly with Conner being a perennial injury risk, Darrell Henderson losing touches to both Akers and Brown (not a given just a possibility), and Duke Johnson not seeing the ball enough because of David Johnson, but I think all 3 have very big roles to play in their offenses and this should not be a worry. Garrett’s WR group is led by a two headed monster in Davante Adams and Amari Cooper, both could easily finish top 5 at the position. Behind them young guys Parris Campbell and Ceedee Lamb provide some options, with Alshon Jeffery being the elder statesman of the group, that might be in the lineup a few weeks when healthy, because he can put up points in Philly. The TE spot looks set for the next 5 years at minimum with Mike Gesicki and Adam Troutman being on the roster, and with Uzomah there he has his bases covered at the position as Uzomah will do well in any weeks Gesicki is not playing. Now as we shift to the other side of the ball, Brandon Graham and DeMarcus Lawrence are a very solid duo and Dee Ford will do a fine enough job when he has to fill in for those two. Garrett has 8 LBs on his roster, so is not pressed for options there, the top 2 options on that list are Jayon Brown and Deion Jones. Then behind those 2 the 4 guys of Vince Williams, Sione Takitaki, TJ Edwards, and Micah Kiser who will all be starters on their defenses and should put up very solid numbers at the LB spot. Then the final 2 of the list, Travin Howard and Malik Harrison are young guys that will grow into roles, but likely won’t see much action this season. With Jarrod Wilson and Juan Thornhill as the starters currently at DB, Garrett is in a good spot there, then he will have Jeremy Chinn and Antoine Winfield, both rookies, waiting in the wings for possibly this season, but definitely next season and beyond.
Predicted Division Finish: 1st
