Junior Seau Division Preview:
Two more former DFL champions here in the division. Brian seems the far and away favorite in the division with the team he assembled, after him I have no real conviction in saying one of the other 3 are ahead of the other 2, so it was hard for me to place the other 3 in where I think they will finish in the division this year. I do think all 3 if things break their way could be in the battle for a playoff spot though
Buffalo Bills (Travis):
Travis is one of the 4 DFL champions I have mentioned. He knows how to work his team to make it as strong as possible. It seems he has started that process again here in LHL with some very strong young talent across the board. Probably my favorite QB in terms of dynasty will be the guy Travis has to lead his team, the QB in question is DeShaun Watson, who I think will be in the MVP race. With 2/3s of the Arizona backfield Travis has a strong lead to the group with Drake, but will have questions for the rest of the backfield as Hines, Pollard, and Benjamin all do not know what they roles will be for the entire season, but both Pollard and Hines from reports seem to have important roles to play for their teams this season. The WR unit is an interesting one, DaVante Parker broke out last year, Perriman had a strong finish to the year with TB, but is now with the Jets, Corey Davis is still yet to prove himself in the NFL, Josh Reynolds is still trying to cement himself as the WR3 for the Rams, but if he does should have a strong season, and then Travis has the 2 rookies Justin Jefferson and Devin Duvernay, Jefferson looks pretty locked into being the Vikings WR2 and seeing a good chunk of targets. Travis has a trio of TEs starting with Noah Fant who came on strong towards the end of last year, OJ Howard finds himself on a team with Tom Brady who loves TEs, but has to share the spot with Gronk, so his role will be limited this year, then rounding out the group is Kaden Smith who will likely be nothing more than depth. Now that Ngakoue has signed with Minnesota, Travis has a solid duo at DL with Ngakoue and Derek Barnett, but if one of them goes down only having Hightower, who won’t see a huge role for the Steelers, will be a problem for Travis this year. The LB core right now seems a touch thin, with the team relying on Devin White and TJ Watt as the main 2, then rookies Logan Wilson and Davion Taylor behind them, the rookies will not be starters to open the season. Travis has 6 DBs on the roster, with 4 vets leading the group in Terrell Edmunds, Eric Rowe, Chris Harris, and Khari Willis. Those 4 should be the ones to see the time for Travis, but Miami rookies Noah Igbinoghene and Brandon Jones could see time this season.
Predicted Division Finish: 2nd
Jacksonville Jaguars (Derek):
Derek has set his team up to be an offensive juggernaut in the future, while building a very capable defense this year. I think Derek can compete with Buffalo and New England this season, but it will be a tough battle. When your team is led by Patrick Mahomes at QB you will likely be in the playoff conversation every season. Derek also had Mahomes back up and Marcus Mariota on the roster to potentially give him options there. Ronald Jones has definitely grown on me this off-season and looks set to be the top back in the TB backfield, then Cam Akers currently leads the Rams backfield, but McVay seems set on getting all 3 guys there involved. Rookie Deejay Dallas rounds out the group, but likely won’t play a role this season. The WR group is currently led by James Washington and Adam Humphries, due to Deebo Samuel looking set to miss some time to open the season. Scotty Miller still seems the most likely guy to find the job as TBs WR3 and could see a strong role in that new look offense, so he could be solid depth for Derek. The TE group for Derek is a very dynasty group, all 3 guys are young and will build into their roles for their teams. Irv Smith still has to deal with Rudolph, but will get his share, Cole Kmet is a rookie and might take some time to get into a rhythm in the NFL, but should be a good option in the future, the last man at the position is Dan Arnold who a lot of people are high on as he might wind the starter in Arizona. To the stronger side of the team for Derek, we start at DL where he has Josh Allen (the pass rusher), Shaq Lawson, and Tyeler Davison that will all put up solid points, then also has Javon Kinlaw to sit behind these guys and develop for the year. Joe Schobert and Anthony Walker make a strong duo to lead the LB core. Matt Judon, Damien Wilson, and Samson Ebukam will all provide needed depth at the LB position. Tre Boston, Tre’Davious White, and Kendall Fuller will put in the bulk of the work at the DB spot with Kyle Dugger sitting behind them providing some depth.
Predicted Division Finish: 4th
Miami Dolphins (Trey):
Trey is the only guy in the league that is currently running a team that they had 0 say in who the team drafted to get this league going, that being said he has already made a trade to make the team more his own by trading Josh Allen for Jimmy G and Denzel Ward. Trey currently is one of the few teams with 2 QBs on the roster. Both Jimmy G and Teddy Bridgewater seem like very solid options on their own, so it might be tricky for Trey to figure out which guy he wants to play each week. The RB room is a myriad of situations, Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift could be the #1 guys for their teams, but that isn’t certain. Both Jamaal Williams and Gio Bernard are clear backups on their teams and possibly will not see a ton of work, leaving the RB room with certain questions. The WR room is quite the opposite of the RB room for Trey, with Chris Godwin (possibly the WR1 this season), steady producer Jarvis Landry, rookie Henry Ruggs, and solid vet Ted Ginn, he will never have to worry about this group producing every week. Algholar is also there, but likely will just be a bench piece. With the pair of Jonnu Smith and Eric Ebron, the TE spot for the Dolphins seems set to be a TD producing unit which will parlay them into a solid unit for the team. When your DL group can put Geno Atkins on the bench, you are doing something right there. Godchaux and Danny Shelton currently hold the starting roles for the team with Vita Vea also on the bench with Atkins. Benardrick McKinney is the clear and away leader of the LBs for Miami, but Van Noy, Harold Landry, Raekwon McMillan, and Denzel Perryman all offer some points that should make this group at least useful for the defense. Justin Simmons, Anthony Harris, and Denzel Ward are a very high scoring trio to have at DB and will make this group one of the better ones in the league.
Projected Division Finish: 3rd
New England Patriots (Brian):
Brian like, Dave, Travis, and I, is a former champion in the DFL. Brian had the 4th overall pick in the draft and has used that to build a title contending team here in LHL. Brian is one of a few teams that can really believe their QB could end the season as the QB1 on the year, Lamar Jackson is fantasy football gold at the position and should be again this season. Brian also has a RB group that could wind up being the best in the league, starting with Austin Ekeler who could be a top 5 scorer there. Raheem Mostert and Tarik Cohen both will have to share time with other backs, but both will play significant roles for their teams and will be very relevant for Brian over the season, Ty Johnson and Davonta Freeman are just depth presently. A WR core of Allen Robinson, TY Hilton, Randall Cobb, Hunter Renfrow, and Damiere Byrd, might actually be the lowest group in terms of scoring compared to other teams, but is still chalk full of points and will not hinder this team at all. At TE, Brian has 2 guys that should break out this year and one guy I am very high on this year. Chris Herndon and Blake Jarwin will be a high scoring duo, the tough part will be knowing which to play every week. In a DL of Kenny Clark, Stephon Tuitt, and Ndamukong Suh, the talent is there, but there is also injury risk for Tuitt and Suh, but if all stay healthy this will be a high scoring group. At LB, Brain looks to the Denver duo of AJ Johson and Todd Davis to be the anchors with Nick Kwiatkoski and Eric Wilson backing them up as very viable options. Chuck Clark and Kenny Moore will do the most work at DB for the team, but Sean Murphy-Bunting, Jaquiski Tartt, and Damontae Kazee will provide needed depth and points when needed. Overall Brian has turned the fantasy Patriots into a team that might be set up to be a dynasty in the LHL.
