LHL POWER RANKINGS: We enter week 5 with 3 undefeated teams and 3 winless teams still and with none of them playing each other, that could continue. We also have a new #1 in the rankings for the 3rd straight week with the Raiders knocking off the #1 team for the 2nd straight week. With the Vikings playing a top ten team that is 3-1, will we see the #1 team continue to loss?
1. Minnesota Vikings (4-0) +1 : For the 2nd straight week we have a new #1 thanks to the Raiders knocking off yet another #1 team. This week the Vikings get the top spot in the rankings thanks to a 4-0 start. The Vikings took advantage of their matchup in week 4 beating the Jags 176.75-146.68 for a big 30 point win. The offense had a monster day putting up 104 points thanks to Melvin Gordon putting up 27.8. Todd Gurley with 19.3, Robby Anderson and Dalton Schultz with 17 a piece, and Kirk Cousins with 12 were also big contributors for the team. The defense did enough to help the offense by throwing up 63.75 points on the week. The leaders on the defensive side were Jordan Poyer with 13.5, Foye Oluokun with 12, and B.J Goodson with 10.5. A big blow on the week was possibly losing Darius Leonard to an injury though. Week 5 will be another week the top team in the rankings is at risk, as the Vikings will have a top 10 battle on their hands with a matchup against the Steelers. Can the Vikings break the trend of top teams losing, or make it three weeks in a row that the #1 team falls?
2. Los Angeles Chargers (3-1) +1 : After a tough loss to swallow in week 3, the Chargers bounced back very well in week 4 with a huge 171.99-99.63 win over the Falcons. With a 96 point week from the offense, they nearly won the matchup on their own. The Cowboy WR duo of Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb combined for an insane 60.6 points, leaving Wentz and company with the other 35 points to split between them, Wentz with 19 of that. All that put out was without big man on campus Davante Adams. The defense did not need to do a whole lot, so the 52 points wasn’t great, but it finished the job for the Chargers. Deion Jones and Jeremy Chinn led the way with 12 points a piece and Micah Kiser had a solid day with 9 of his own. After getting back on track with a win in week 4, the Chargers turn their attention to the Seahawks in hopes of starting a winning streak with a win here. Can they do that and move to 4-1, or get upset again for the 2nd time in 3 weeks?
3. Green Bay Packers (3-1) +1 : The Packers are now on a 3 game winning streak after an 8 point win over the Dolphins this past week, the final of that matchup was 176.33-168.34. The offense had a strong week putting up 101 points total. OBJ had a huge game with 40 points on the week leading the way for the offense, then Derek Carr with 18 and Tyreek Hill with 16 were the big supporters of OBJ on the week, helping the offense to their put out. The defense helped separate the Packers from the Dolphins with a 71 point week. With 16.5 from Josh Jones and 15 from Zach Cunningham, the defense had 2 strong outings to build off, then 3 others with 9 points helped those 2 players out. With a solid win streak building the Packers will move onto week 5 and a matchup with the Browns, the question for the Packers is can they carry the momentum up, despite it looking like they will be without a K this week because of his bye. So will it be 4 wins in a row, or their 2nd loss of the season?
4. New Orleans Saints (3-1) -3 : The Saints were not able to stay at #1 in the league for very long, with the target on their back, the Saints were not able to fend off the challenge from the Raiders as they lost the week 175.4-170.95. The loss was not due to lack of points from the offense, as the unit put up 96 points on the week. The offense was led by 22 points from both Aaron Jones and Will Filler, then 19 from Kareem Hunt, and 13 from Joe Burrow. The defense had a decent week putting up 65 points total. Kwon Alexander led the way for the defense with 13.5 points, then Akiem Hicks and Joe Thomas both had 10 points a piece to help Kwon on that side of the ball. Coming off their first loss of the season, the Saints need to rebound quickly and having a matchup with the Jags presents a very strong possibility for them to bounce back this week, so can they take advantage of that, or stumble for the 2nd week in a row?
5. Arizona Cardinals (4-0) +2 : The Cardinals remain perfect on the season with their 180.38-145.34 win over the Titans. A 98 point day from their offense was a big part of the win, and 22 from Mike Davis was the biggest performance in that showing. A 19 spot from both Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp, 11 from David Johnson, and 10 from Josh Jacobs and Travis Kelce were also important in the result for the Cardinals. Tyler Lockett was the only player on offense that was unable to top the 10 point mark. The defense was able to put up 78 points on the week despite only having 1 DL playing and a 0 from Thomas Davis. A third of the output was from Rodney McLeod getting 25.4 points. Elandor Roberts was a big contributor as well with 17 points, then De’Vondre Campbell had 13.5 and Whitney Mercilus had 12 to round out the defense. The task in week 5 for the Cardinals is to stay undefeated, and with a matchup against the 1-3 Broncos that task looks like it should be well within reach. Can they stand up to the job or fall for the first time?
6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) -1 : The Bucs picked up their second straight win with a 163.65-141.74 scoreline against the Broncos. The offense did all the heavy lifting for the team as they put up 105.9 of the teams points on the week. DJ Chark and Chris Carson were the standout performers for the offense with 29.5 and 25 points respectively. Tyler Boyd with 16 and CEH with 12 were also important to the offense on the week. Thanks to what the offense did, the defense did not have to do a whole lot, so they did enough to help the team to a win with 49.75 points total. Marlon Humphrey was the only notable performer for the unit with 17 points, everyone else was 7.75 points or less. For Tampa it is another big matchup this week, as they will face off with fellow top 10 and 3-1 team the Pats. Can the Bucs extend their 2 week win streak, or will they have the win streak cut short?
7. Las Vegas Raiders (4-0) +3 : The Raiders are on a king slayer run currently! Knocking off the #1 team in the rankings for the 2nd straight week with their win over the Saints in week 4 with a 175.4-170.95 result. The offense had a solid day with an 81 point mark, which was led by an 18 from Russell Wilson. Then both Keenan Allen and Brandon Aiyuk had 14 points a piece and Malcolm Brown had 10 points as well to get the offense to where it was. The defense also had a solid day with 72 points as a unit. Thanks to a 19 and 16.5, Jordan Hicks and KJ Wright were able to lead the defense to their totals. Karl Joseph chipped in 9, while everyone else was at 6 points or less on the week. The K played a big part in the win for the Raiders. The Raiders are finally not facing the #1 team in the rankings this week as they will face off with the 49ers. Can the Raiders continue their impressive opening to the season and move to 5-0, or be the team falling victim to an upset this week?
8. New England Patriots (3-1) -2 : The Pats picked up their 3rd straight win with an almost 80 point blowout of the Bears. The team put up 162 total points and the offense had 75 of that total. The duo of Lamar Jackson and Allen Robinson combined for 49 points which was two-thirds of the offense’s points, then Hunter Renfrow chipped in 10 points of his own. The defense had a decent week putting up 64 total points, but that was partly due to only having 7 guys going on that side of the ball. The LB duo of Eric Wilson and AJ Johnson had 13.75 and 12 respectively to lead the way with a 9.5 spot from Ndamukong Suh to back them up. The K scoring 22 was nice as well. Week 5 will not be as easy for the Pats, as they will get a top 10 battle with the Bucs this week. Riding a 3 week win streak can the Pats keep that going and make it 4 in a row, or will the top 10 battle get to them and cost them another loss?
9. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) +3 : After a tough loss in week 3 the Steelers needed a win to bounce back and avoid moving to 2-2 and losing back to back weeks, they got the win with a 188.93-179.06 result against the LA Rams. The offense did a lot of work putting up 95 points on the week and 40 of that was from Kittle in his debut for the team. That total also had a 0 from Brandin Cooks, but Minshew with 18 helped Kittle cover that 0 to make it a non-factor. The defense also had a solid week with 76 points combined. The LBs Kyzir White and Neville Hewitt led the way with 15.5 and 14 respectively. The rest of the guys scored 6, 6.5, 9 or 9.5 to back those 2 LBs up on the week. The Steelers get the task the Raiders had the last 2 weeks, which is facing off with the #1 team in the rankings, can the Steelers keep the streak of #1 teams losing going or be the team to end that streak and fall to 3-2?
10. Tennessee Titans (2-2) -2 : After an important win over the Steelers, the Titans tried to carry that momentum, but were unable to do so and lost in week 4 to the Cardinals with a final of 180.38-145.34. Despite the trio of Josh Allen, Antonio Gibson, and Mark Andrews all scoring 20+ the offense only put up 80 points which was due to Ridley and Dede Westbrook both scoring 0 points. Tee Higgins was able to add 13 points to the total to help the other 3 big scorers. The loss was mostly on the defense as they were only able to manage 46.5 points on the week. Bobby Okereke and Landon Collins did what they could with 12 points a piece, but 3 players only managed 1.5 points and the other 3 getting 4.5 or 6.5 does not bode well for the defense to do well. For the Titans, they will now face off with Washington, who is also 2-2 on the season. If the first 4 weeks are any indication this should be a win for the Titans as they have gone win, loss, win, loss to open the season, will that trend continue or will Washington hand them back to back losses?
11. Baltimore Ravens (2-2) +2 : After their first 200 point week, the Ravens backed it up with a solid 171.85 total in their win over the Seahawks. The offense had 6 of the 7 guys score 10+ points which carried them to their 98.6 point total. The players with 10+ were Dalvin Cook (28.6), Latavius Murray (21.3), Jared Goff (11.7), David Montgomery (10.7), and both Christian Kirk and TJ Hockenson at 10.7, leaving Preston Williams as the only one without 10+ points. The defense had a decent day with 68.25 points total, which was due to 19.5 from Blake Martinez and 10 from Darnell Savage. To back them up 3 players each had 9 points. The Ravens will look to carry the momentum they have built into week 5 and with a matchup against the Bears, they should be looking at 3 straight wins after this matchup, which would put them over .500 for the first time. Can they do that or will they stumble and fall back under .500?
12. Los Angeles Rams (2-2) -3 : After a hot 2-0 start, the Rams have had to take 2 tough losses in back to back weeks, this time a 188.93-179.06 result against the Steelers. The offense was the only side of the ball to not out score their opposition so were ultimately the biggest reason for the loss, despite putting up a good 84 point total. The 84 was in large part due to 33 from Dak and 18.7 from Devin Singletary, the other 5 guys on offense did not have good games. The defense won their matchup, even though it was only by 1 point which put their total at 77 on the week. Jessie Bates with 16.5, Kenneth Murray with 15, and Jaylon Smith with 10.5 were the leading trio for the defense. Only 1 player scored less than 6 which contributed to the good week. In desperate need for a win to snap the 2 week losing streak the Rams will face off with the Colts. Will the Rams be able to bounce back or lose for the 3rd straight week?
13. Miami Dolphins (2-2) -2 : Like the Rams mentioned above, the Dolphins started out hot with 2 wins in a row, but now have had 2 losses in a row. This past week was because of a 176.33-168.34 final between them and the Packers. The offense had a strong week with 99 points, but still got outscored. Teddy Bridgewater was the highpoint man with 24.48 on the week, then Jamaal Williams followed him with 18.5 of his own. Behind them the trio of Jarvis Landry, James Robinson, and Nelson Agholor all had 14 each. Mooney and Kroft added 12.1 combined. The defense only put up 61 and was the biggest culprit in the loss, but it is hard to overcome a 0 from McMillan. Benardrick McKinney had 13.5 and Danny Shelton had 11.25 to lead the way for the defense. Outside of McMillan, Davon Godchaux was the only player to not score at least 7.5 points. Looking to get back on track with a win, the Dolphins will have to do so by beating the Giants. Can they do so and move back over .500 or dip under .500 for the first time?
14. San Francisco 49ers (1-3) - : The 49ers finally got their first win on the season with a massive 55 point win over the Browns with the final being 185.51-130.97. The offense nearly won them the matchup on their own with 128 points and that was despite a 0 from Hamler who did not play. All 4 players that topped 10 points also topped 20 points, which was Joe Mixon with 43.1, Aaron Rodgers with 26.31, Mike Evans with 25.2, and Jerick McKinnon with 22.7. The other 2 combined for 11.2 points. The defense made up the 55 point difference with Roquan Smith having a big game with 20.25. With only John Johnson approaching 10 points, the defensive performance was largely due to Roquan Smith. Now that the 49ers have a win on the season, can they keep that going and start a win streak to get out from under .500? To do so they will face off with the giant slayers, the Raiders. Can they pull the upset or go right back to losing and back to 3 games under .500?
15. Washington Redskins (2-2) +1 : After a week where they did not top 100 points, Washington rebounded nicely and put up 143.47 on their way to a win that was by less than 1 point. The win did not get led by the offense, as they only put up 66 points, but that was partially due to two 0s from Joe Reed and Devin Asiasi. It was 16 from Darren Waller and Kenny Golladay that led the way for the offense with Haskins adding 15 behind them. The other 2 of Taylor and Cole had 8 a piece. The defense was the biggest reason for the win as they put up 77 points and that was due to 19.5 from Patrick Queen, 16 from Lavonte David, and 13.5 from Erik Harris. Those totals and Hitchens win 9 covered for the 3 players that got 4.5, 3.5, and 3. After an important win, can Washington build on that success and start a win streak with a win this week over the Titans, or will they fall back under .500?
16. Indianapolis Colts (2-2) +1 : After a narrow 5 point loss 2 weeks ago, the Colts bounced back in a strong way with a nearly 50 point win over the Giants and that was despite leaving CMC in the lineup. With CMC in the lineup, the offense was only able to put up 64 points on the week, and over half of that came from 21 from Terry McLaurin and 14 from Leviska Shenault. No one else on offense had a day of note. The defense had a strong day, carrying the team with 92.5 points combined. Seven of the eight players scored 7.5+ points with the high point man being Jon Bostic with 21. Then Bobby Wagner with 18.5 and Jamie Collins with 13.5 were the other 2 players to get over 10 points. The trio of Justin Houston, Vonn Bell, and James Bradberry all had 9 points a piece. The Colts go into week 5 on a high and will be looking to carry that through another week, but a matchup with the Rams and 3 empty spots in the lineup still it seems the Colts are set for a loss this week and moving back under .500.
17. Buffalo Bills (2-2) -2 : The Bills have opened the season by trading wins and losses the first 4 weeks with the loss this past week to Washington. The offense did all they could to get the win for the team with a 90.6 point week as a unit. Adam Thielen had the biggest week for the offense with 26 points, then Deshaun Watson had a solid day with 17 and the pair of Justin Jefferson and OJ Howard each had 14 points. The defense just could not quite do enough to help the offense and give the team a win, as they only put up 50 points on the week. Yannick Ngakoue did his part for the defense with 15 points and almost getting a third of the points for this side of the ball. Devin White was 0.2 away from topping 10 points, so he did enough to not be the reason for the struggles on that side of the ball. With the team trading wins and losses to open the season, they should be in a good position to continue that this week as it should be a wins turn to show up if the trend continues, can they do that, or fall for the 2nd straight week and fall under .500?
18. Seattle Seahawks (1-3) - : The Seahawks tried to start a win streak in week 4 after their win in week 3, but it was not meant to be as they had to take a loss to the Ravens, by a final of 171.85-161.17. The offense put in a good point total with 92 points on the week which was led by Tom Brady with 29.77 on the week. Zeke was the next best on the team with 21.5 and Diggs and DK Metcalf chipped in 17.5 and 14.6 respectively. The defense did their part and matched the opposition there by putting up 68.5 on the week. Tremaine Edmunds with 19.75 led the way for the unit, with Nathan Gerry being the other player over 10 points on the week with 12.25 of his own. On the back of another loss the Seahawks are in search of a win to get back on track, but week 5 brings them a matchup against the Chargers, so things do not look great. Can they pull off the upet or loss for a 2nd week straight and make it their 2nd 2 game losing streak on the season?
19. Denver Broncos (1-3) - : After picking up their first win of the season in week 4, the Broncos had to face off with a strong Bucs team and were not up to the challenge, settling for their 3rd loss on the season with a 163.65-141.74 result. The loss mostly came from the performance the offense put up on the week, as they were only able to put up 73.99 total points. Kyler with 22.79 led the way and Jerry Jeudy did his best to support him with 16.1 of his own. J.D McKissic was the only other player of note as he chipped in 10.6 on the week. While it wasn’t a banner day for the defense, they did enough to beat their counterparts by 10 points and put up 59.75 points. A huge 21.75 from Josey Jewell and 18.5 from Eric Kendricks were key contributors to the defense. Cam Jordan was the only other guy over 4.5 points with 9 and Jenkins did not play so had a 0 in the lineup for the defense. After a tough loss, the Broncos will go up against an undefeated Cardinals team this week, so bouncing back this week might be a long shot. Can the Broncos hand the Cardinals their first loss, or lose for the 4th time on the year?
20. Atlanta Falcons (1-3) - : The Falcons had a very brutal week 4, not only did they lose big to the Chargers, they were unable to top 100 points on the week, only managing 99.63 points. The offense had a very brutal week only managing 39.18 points total, which was due mostly to 1.2 total points from Jordan Howard, Olabisi Johnson, and A.J Dillon. Brees and Hollywood Brown had serviceable days with 14 and 12.6 respectively with Jimmy Graham and Russell Gage combining for 11.3 points to round out the poor week for the offense. The defense did not do much better on the week as they only put up 47.95 points on the week. Bradley Chubb had a strong showing with 15 points and Carlton Davis and Jaire Alexander had 9.7 and 9 respectively, but all those things could not help the defense or the team to a stronger showing. After a tough week, the Falcons will look to bounce back this week, but will have to do so against the Bills. Can they pick up their 2nd win on the season, or fall 3 games under the .500 mark?
21. Cleveland Browns (1-3) - : The Browns lost their 2nd straight matchup with a 185.51-130.97 loss to the 49ers. The loss was largely due to the struggles of the offense as they were only able to put together 50.97 points on the week. That total was despite 4 guys topping 10 points, albeit the most one of those 4 scored was 12 points. The trio of Darren Fells, Larry Fitz, and Boston Scott only managed 6.6 combined points, which did not help things. The defense did all it could to help the team by putting up 71 points and that was with a 0 from Fletcher Cox. Myles Garrett and Shaq Barrett had 13.5, Patrick Peterson and Emmanuel Ogbah had 11, Stephon Gilmore and Duke Riley had 7.5, and Uchenna Nwosu had 7, those scores made for an interested stat line for the defense as 6 of 7 that scored had a player score the same as them. The Browns are already in a hole early in the season, and things do not look like they will change this week as they will square off with the very strong Packers team. The question for the week will be can the Browns push the Packers and possibly upset them, or drop the week and move 3 games under .500?
22. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) - : The Jags have started to pick things up the last 2 weeks as they have scored 146 points each of the last 2 weeks, but that is as far as it goes as they have still lost those weeks and sit at 0-4 with the 176.75-146.68 loss to the Vikings in week 4. The offense had a decent day putting up 75 points even with a 0 from Irv Smith. Scotty Miller led the offense with 19, then Ronald Jones had 18 and Mahomes had 17 to make a trio of strong performers leading the offense. The other 3 players that put up points had either 7 or 4 points on the week. The defense also had a decent day putting up 71 points as a unit. A trio of LBs led the way for the defense with Anthony Walker scoring 16.5 points, Matt Judon scoring 12.5 points, and Joe Schobert scoring 10.5 points. The Jags are still in search of their first win on the season, so going up against a very talented Saints team, getting the win this week seems like a very long shot, but if the team keeps improving like they have, maybe they can pull off a massive upset here.
23. Chicago Bears (0-4) - : The Bears had a very horrible week in week 4. They only had 11 players score points on the week, which resulted in them only putting up 84 points on the week. The offense only had 42.45 points on the week, which accounted for over half the teams total, but still was not a good mark. JJ Taylor and Michael Thomas were the 2 players on offense that had 0s on the week, while Curtis Samuel (7.8), Rex Burkhead (6), and Jack Doyle (2.2) did not have good days either. Baker Mayfield with 13.55 and James White with 12.9 topped 10 points, but were not enough to make the offenses total good. The defense only put up 35.25 points, but that mark had 3 players with 0 points. Cory Littleton had 10.75 to lead the way, with Chase Winovich adding 9.5 points, but the other 3 were only able to combine for 15 points. The brutal start to the season will likely continue for the Bears as they will face off with the Ravens this week. Possibly getting Michael Thomas back this week should help, but not having a full lineup on defense again and potentially some inactives on offense the team will again be staring a loss in the face.
24. New York Giants (0-4) - : The Giants were another team that only had 11 players score points for them on the week and all 5 of those 0s were on the defensive side of the ball. The team lost to the Colts by a final of 166.95-118.8. The offense obviously did most of the work, which was not that great as they put up 74.3 points combined. Tre’Quan Smith had a big 21.4 to lead the offense with Alvin Kamara adding 20.9 to make the Saints duo the clear best options for the offense and the only guys over 10 points on that side of the ball. As mentioned the defense had 5 0s and the 3 players that put up points had 36 total points and 25.5 of that came from Tyrann Mathieu. The Giants still will not have a full lineup this week with Maddox out on the defense, so with that can they overcome that and knock off the Dolphins for their first win on the season, or lose for the 5th straight week?
